Food Festivals - Making your holiday break even more memorable

Are you a ‘Foodie’?  Do you love trying new foods? Then how about planning your holiday destination around one of the superb Food Festivals that take place throughout the country each year.  

Food Festivals are very trendy and a massive celebration of tasty food, and delicious drink.  Whether your taste buds are drawn towards, savoury, spicy, or sweet, there will be plenty of street food options for everyone to enjoy, including the younger members of the family.  

Spring is generally when they begin, following through into the Autumn.  Festivals are of course held in various locations, from the coastal town with maybe a dedicated Seafood Festival, through to a town location, all offering an array of tempting tastes to explore.

If you are a fan of seafood, then indulging in a trip to a festival while by the sea is perfect.  Even more so if it is being held within the busy harbour or alongside the beach, creating the ideal setting for the occasion.  

The larger the event, naturally, the more you will have to explore, however as a Food Festival is based around food, food, and more food…… you can generally expect to find some cooking demonstrations.

In the larger events, you can find an array of fantastic chefs cooking up some superb dishes to impress, along with some hot tips and advice for when you are back at home.  The theatres generally take place throughout the day with a good variety to look out for.  Some events include a cookery school where you can learn specific skills such as baking and cake icing.

You will also find a Shopping Village, with specialist food and drink products to take away.  You will also find many outlets providing cooked street food, which is the perfect opportunity to take a break, enjoy a meal, and maybe add a sparkle with a glass of champagne, wine, or even a cocktail.

Tasting food is not quite the same if you aren’t also tasting new drink flavours, so how about sampling the different wine, beer, cider or cocktails available.

Food Festivals are also about having fun and enjoying your day.  The larger events will host live music, with many different bands or groups from the local area, taking time out to entertain you. Some events, such as one in Exeter, runs with 3 nights of non-stop live music from top performers.  This along with superb food to tempt the taste buds, and some unusual drinks to sample, combine to make for a truly memorable day.
